Spotlight on Belém: Countdown to COP30

We are pleased to share the latest edition of Spotlight, the signature online newsletter of the Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT). This edition is published shortly before COP30, the annual global climate negotiations, which will be held this year in Belém, Brazil.

With a new round of stronger Nationally Determined Contributions, the NDCs 3.0, and with critical topics such as adaptation, just transitions, and climate finance on the agenda, COP30 presents a valuable opportunity to harness the power of transparency, with the data and analysis it provides, to drive more effective climate action.

In this edition you will find:

This edition also introduces the Waste Climate Action Data Tool (WasCAD), ICAT’s new transparency tool for the waste sector, and a new training course on the IPCC inventory software. Finally, you can read updates on ICAT projects in Haiti and Uganda.

We hope you enjoy the read. As always, we welcome your ideas and feedback.
