Buildings represent a core component of our built environments and our environmental impact. Building efficiency measures often represent an important opportunity for substantial greenhouse gas emission reductions.
The Buildings Efficiency Methodology provides guidance for assessing the greenhouse gas impacts of building sector energy efficiency policies.It focuses on the assessment of impacts from built-in energy loads, including space heating, cooling, lighting and hot water.
It is applicable to three commonly implemented policies:
- Mandatory building codes for new and existing buildings;
- Voluntary building codes for new buildings;
- Standalone financial support policies for the renovation of existing building stock.
